PHP Extensions Cannot Be Installed

Hello OLSPanel team,

After installing version 3.0.18 on Ubuntu 22, I'm unable to install any PHP extensions from the /whm/php_ext/ section.

When I click the Install button, the page simply refreshes, but nothing gets installed. The Install button is still displayed as if nothing happened.

Could you please tell me what might be causing this issue? Am I missing a step or configuring something incorrectly?

I have created a plugin that fixes the errors that I have faced personally and it is on my github so you can check it out to see if it will help you fix the issue. https://github.com/ongudidan/olspanel-plugin-selfhealer/releases/tag/v1.0.8

You can read the documentation there on the repository to see what it can do.
After the installation you will find the extension on the dashboard on the "Advance" section then click the menu you will be taken to the page where you can trigger the self-healing process to fix the issues.

I have exactly the same issue, but on a freshly installed server. I haven't tested it on my older server because I don't want to risk making any changes while the websites are running fine. So I'm not sure whether the issue also affects existing installations or only fresh ones.

proven best to use on debian environments, debian 11 12 13 you cant miss with this ones as your servers OS, ubuntu is bloated and I as sys admin been using debian for ages now, and trust me this is best OS for server environment, lightweight BUILT for server use, legacy support, hardened kernel, trusted and working updates etc... let me know how it went

Ubuntu 22 is probably one of the most popular and stable server operating systems, and many companies build and test their software with it in mind.

If the only solution is to switch to a different operating system, does that mean we should stop using OLSPanel and move to another control panel instead?

For me, OLSPanel has been the simplest and most stable control panel I've used, so I'd rather not replace it. However, if such a critical issue isn't going to be fixed, then unfortunately we'll have no choice but to look for another control panel.

I have managed to fix it in the codebase in the server but I think it will be better for it to be fixed from the main sourcecode of the panel during installation.

Root Cause
NameError on run_package_update: The backend function manage_php_extension in /usr/local/olspanel/mypanel/users/server_core.py was calling run_package_update(). However, that function was never imported inside server_core.py, throwing NameError: name 'run_package_update' is not defined and failing the install/uninstall operation silently before it could execute the package manager command.

Thank you very much, I had to install Cyberpanel because of this problem. In the future, if all the problems with olspanel are fixed, I will return to olspanel when transferring or reinstalling the operating system. Thank you for your efforts.

I also started with cyberpanel before switching to OLSPanel. Atleast with this panel I have my own custom plugins that I have built to use with my projects. I have a server dedicated for just playing with the panel and fixing bugs on my own before shipping them to the main server.

Hello again, has this problem of the extension not being activated been resolved so that we can switch from Cyberpanel to OLSPanel?
We were very annoyed during this time. If the problem was from OpenLightSpeed it should have been in CyberPanel, but it is not. Should we wait for you to solve the problem or should we just ignore it and not wait?

Now my server is working and the sites are active. If the problem is solved, should I plan to reinstall the control panel and install it at the appropriate time? Will the problem be solved? Thank you for your clarification.
